Program
De Colores Preschool is for children ages 16 months- 4 years old and is open daily from 7:30am- 3:00pm. Our program uses a Reggio inspired curriculum and whole child approach to learning. We build a warm, welcoming and supportive classroom community that allows children to create, play, pretend, and express themselves.
Ms. Arciniega sets a daily rhythm for preschoolers that is developmentally appropriate, tailored to their interests, and allows them to know what is coming next throughout their day. Every day is a little different- but a preschooler’s day will consist of group time, story time, outdoor play, lunch and snacks, rest and lots of time for play and exploration!
Curriculum
-
Language and Literacy
Children will build expressive and receptive language through participation in conversations, story time, pictures and print, as well as writing and drawing.
-
Social Emotional
Children learn about the world around through play experiences: both solitary play and parallel play. Children can then begin to play cooperatively and learn the importance of sharing through group activities.
-
Mathematics
Children will explore different sizes, shapes and quantities using a variety of objects and manipulatives through various activities.
-
Science
Using nature and the world around us, children explore textures, colors, shapes and sizes. Experiments and observations promote questioning and making predictions.
-
Creative Expression
Through a variety of open ended art, free play, dramatic play, music and movement, and dance, children will have opportunities to create freely and express themselves.
-
Motor Skills
Children will practice both fine motor (using scissors, drawing, building with blocks) and gross motor activities (running, skipping, climbing) through an assortment of teacher monitored activities.
